Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi is set to be presented with Maldives' highest state honour during his official visit to the Maldives.
Indian newspapers report that the Order of the rule of Izzudeen will be presented to the PM during his sophomore trip to the Maldives. PM Modi is expected to arrive in the Maldives Saturday afternoon.
However, Maldives government is yet to confirm the news.
Chief Communications Strategist at the President's Office revealed to 'One Online' that at the time of press, he was unable to confirm or deny the news.
The Order of the rule of Izzudeen is the highest state honour presented to foreign leaders by the Maldives.
Only one leader has received the honour so far. Queen Elizabeth II was presented with the honour during her visit to the Maldives in 1972.
