New Radiant Sports Club and Victory Sports Club both secured victories in the Dhiraagu Dhivehi Premier League this weekend.

On Saturday night, New Radiant defeated United Victory 2-0 at the National Stadium, earning their second consecutive win. After a goalless first half, Ali Fasir opened the scoring with a trademark free-kick before Brazilian forward Gomes da Silva sealed the result with a late header from Hassan Raif Ahmed’s cross. The match also featured a family rivalry, as New Radiant’s head coach Ali Suzanne faced his brother Mohamed Nazeeh, who led United Victory.

On Sunday, Victory Sports Club edged past Green Streets 1-0, celebrating their first win of the season. The decisive goal came in stoppage time when Abdullah Midhuhath Fahmy fired home a powerful free-kick from outside the box, with Green Streets’ goalkeeper Ahmed Rameez unable to hold on. The result gave Victory their first points of the campaign, while Green Streets remain winless after two defeats.

Both New Radiant and Victory, once suspended from top-flight football, have made strong comebacks in recent years and now look to re-establish themselves among the league’s leading contenders.
