New Radiant Sports Club will return to action in the Dhiraagu Dhivehi Premier League following the international break, with Ali Ashfaq (Dhangandey) in the line-up, coach Ali Suzain has confirmed.

New Radiant will play with their first match scheduled against Victory Sports Club on the 21st of this month. The league has completed its opening two weeks, after which the national team will step in for their fixtures.

Ashfaq, who has been recovering from a knee injury and subsequent surgery, is working towards full fitness. The 39-year-old, regarded as the all-time top scorer for the Maldives national team, has a long history with New Radiant, having played for the club in 2006–2007, 2012–2013, and 2017–2018. Across these stints, he enjoyed significant success, including league titles in 2006, 2012, 2013, and 2017, along with strong performances in the AFC Cup.

Ashfaq sustained his knee injury while playing for Super United Sports in the 2023 President’s Cup. His return to New Radiant marks another chapter in his decorated career, as the team looks to strengthen their campaign in the top flight under Suzain's guidance.
