The Football Association of Maldives (FAM) has announced that each team participating in the Women’s Football League will receive MVR 100,000 in financial support. The aid, provided with assistance from FIFA, aims to help clubs revitalise women’s football in the Maldives and promote the development of female players.

FAM stated that the support is part of its broader effort to improve the quality of the league. The tournament, launched this year after a long hiatus, marks the first official women’s football competition in the Maldives since 2014.

The league kicked off yesterday at Henveiru Stadium with six teams: Odi Sports Club, Maziya Sports and Recreation, New Radiant Sports Club, TC Sports Club, Victory Sports Club, and Bisburu Sports Club.
