Defending Champions Kaashidhoo Exit Tournament; Gaafaru and Maafushi Advance to K. Atoll Final

In the ongoing HD Hyundai Golden Futsal Challenge 2026—the Maldives' largest and most prestigious futsal tournament—Gaafaru and Maafushi have secured their places in the Kaafu (K) Atoll final.

Both semi-final matches of K. Atoll played last night were exceptionally intense, especially the clash between Gaafaru and Kaashidhoo, who had also faced each other in last year's semi-finals.

While Kaashidhoo had eliminated Gaafaru in last year's atoll semi-final and went on to win the tournament trophy following a remarkable run, they were forced to exit this year's competition after a 3-2 defeat last night.

Kaashidhoo initially took a two-goal lead, with both goals scored by Abdulla Suzair. Despite the pressure, Gaafaru staged a comeback with successive goals to turn the tide. Shanaan Rashad netted twice, while Ibrahim Rimaah scored the third goal for Gaafaru.

Meanwhile, the defending atoll champions Maafushi returned to the final after defeating Dhiffushi with a 5-3 scoreline.

Maafushi’s goals were scored by Hussain Rifaan, Zulkifli Zahir, Hassan Imran, and Murtaja Mohamed, with Rifaan netting twice. Dhiffushi’s goals came from Ahmed Rizwan and Ahmed Maazin.

Maafushi’s goalkeeper, Naffaz Saud, was named the man of the match for his stellar performance.
