Central Henveiru MP Ali Azim has been elected as the Parliamentary Group Leader for Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP).

While MP Ali Azim was elected as the PG Leader during the elections held Tuesday, Hulhudhoo MP Ilyas Labeeb and South MP Hussain Shaheem were elected as the Deputy PG Leaders.

Since candidates had contested as needed, a yes or no vote was cast. MP Azim was elected PG Leader unanimously with the votes of all 57 participating members.

While MP Ilyas Labeeb achieved the same amount of votes for Deputy PG Leader, MP Hussain Shaheem received 54.

Alifushi MP Mohamed Rasheed Hussain and Central Fuvahmulah MP Hussain Mohamed Didi were also elected as the Secretary General and Deputy Secretary General with a unanimous vote respectively.
