The Maldives secured a silver medal in the girls’ under-15 team event at the South Asia Junior Table Tennis Tournament held in Shimla, India.

The team, made up of Aishath Malak Thaseen, Aishath Alsa Nafiz, and Sara Moosa Jaleel, delivered strong performances throughout the competition. They defeated Nepal and Sri Lanka 3-2 and also recorded a 3-1 victory in another match. However, they lost 3-0 to India in the final, earning second place.

The tournament also serves as a qualification event for the Asian Championships scheduled to take place in Muscat, Oman, in June. The Maldives is competing in both the under-15 cadet and under-19 junior categories.

In other results, the Maldivian boys’ under-15 team finished fifth in their group. The country placed fourth in the junior men’s under-19 team event and the women’s junior team event. India won gold in the girls’ under-15 category.
