The inmate of Maafushi Prison who escaped from the prison’s medical center last night has been found by the Maldives Correctional Service.

A tweet sent out today by the Correctional Service this morning confirmed that the inmate who escaped last night has been found. Correctional Service said that the Maldives Police Service and the people of Maafushi assisted the search for the inmate.

The escaped inmate was found at sea and brought back to Maafushi Prison around 6:55 a.m. this morning.

The Correctional Service expressed their gratitude to the Maldives Police Service and the people of Maafushi for their assistance in the search.
