Long-running US medical drama “Grey’s Anatomy” returns to screens this week in the US and the UK as Season 23 kicks off.
The new season of the show contains only 13 episodes, rather than the 18 that we’d grown accustomed to in recent years, and it’s the first season without Dr. Owen Hunt (Kevin McKidd) and Dr. Teddy Altman (Kim Raver) who departed at the end of Season 22. Ahead of the new season, a trailer has arrived that teases the action to come.
At the end of Season 22, there were a few loose ends and the trailer shows all of those being picked up in the premiere. Link (Chris Carmack) is hiding his pain medication addiction from wife Jo (Camilla Luddington), Simone (Alexis Floyd) finds herself torn between Lucas (Niko Terho) and Wes (Trevor Bryant), and Millin (Adelaide Kane) and Ndugu (Anthony Hill) are caught coming out of an on-call room by Ben (Jason George).
The trailer also teases the fallout from Amelia (Caterina Scorsone) sleeping with Cass (Sophie Bush) and being caught by Toni (Jennifer Landon) who arrived at her doorstep with a declaration of love. Front-and-centre in the trailer is Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) who is back at Grey Sloan just as they open their VIP wing and she’s introduced to Dr. Seth Norton (James Wolk). It also looks like Bailey (Chandra Wilson) is going to pursue her decision to get a Masters in Public Health too!
Of course, no “Grey’s Anatomy” premiere would be complete without a disaster and the premiere finds the doctors battling to save casualties following two planes colliding on an airport runway.
“Grey’s Anatomy” airs on ABC in the US on Thursday 15th October 2026, and will be available on Hulu after. In the UK, the show returns to Disney+ on Friday 16th October 2026.
