Male’ City Mayor, Shifa Mohamed has said that they have the thinking of outsourcing some of the work by the City Council to private companies.

Mayor Shifa made the remark at a Council meeting with the people of Hulhumale’ last night.

At the meeting, the Male’ City Mayor said that outsourcing the maintenance of parks and such would put money in the pocket of the people.

Sha said that contracting such would benefit the people. Mayor Shifa said that doing everything through state-owned companies costs the public and pointed out that road development projects in the past were done efficiently by Maldivians.

The Mayor said that the Council is working on acquiring funds for Councils and when they come in, ward offices will be made developed with the people to run them. She said that the City Council is currently run as a government body with the allocated funds from the state budget.
