Former Vice President Dr. Mohamed Jameel Ahmed has claimed that the state needs to take responsibility for the escape of former Vice President, Ahmed Adeeb.

In a tweet sent out after the news broke about Adeeb's escape, Dr. Jameel had claimed that the state should take responsibility for the escape and raised questions as to why certain trials are put on fast track while Adeeb's case haven't been treated the same.

Indian authorities had arrested Adeeb, after he eached India via sea route and was questioned by central agencies off the coast of Tamil Nadu.

Officials intercepted the barge mid-sea after a tip-off, and Ahmed Adeeb was held on board and not permitted to step foot in India. According to investigators, Adeeb was secured while on board a barge named Virgo 9, which had returned to Tuticorin with a crew of nine in addition to Adeeb. The rest of the crew had valid documents but Adeeb's passport had been confiscated by the Supreme Court.
