Former Vice President Ahmed Adeeb is set to testify in the money laundering trial of former President Abdulla Yameen.

The hearing of the money laundering trial against President Yameen has been scheduled for 9:30pm on Thursday.

During the hearing, witness statement of ACC President Muavviz Rasheed will be taken first, after which Adeeb will testify. Muavviz had also testified during the previous hearing of the trial as well.

Sources also claim that following Adeeb’s testimony, former MD of MMPRC Abdulla Ziyath will give his witness statement as well.

While Adeeb is testifying against President Yameen, an agreement to corporate with investigations related to MMPRC has been signed between the government and Adeeb.

However Adeeb fled the Maldives and tried to seek political asylum in India after the agreement was signed. He has since been brought back, with the Supreme Court ordering to remand him until his trial concluded.

The prosecution had submitted cheque transactions and an agreement between the Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) and President Yameen as part of evidence while presenting the case. Additional items in evidence include; President Yameen's statement to the Police, ACC report, A letter, Bank Statement of an account with BML opened under Moosa Zameer's name, Report on Escrow Account, Cheques, President Yameen's statement to ACC, President's Office's letters in addition to President Yameen's financial statement and bank statements.

Witnesses presented by the prosecution includes eight people with former ACC President Hassan Luthufee, current ACC President Muavviz Rasheed, former Vice President Ahmed Adeeb as well as former Tourism Minister Moosa Zameer.

Defense attorney, Ali Shah had also presented the name of former MMA Governor, Azeema Adam as a defense witness at the hearing. They also presented a press statement from MMA as a document evidence, which refuted the allegations in the 'Stealing Paradise' documentary produced by Al-Jazeera.
