Today's hearing in the trial of former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom in the charge of money laundering has gone to recess after testimonies from the Deputy CEO and Operations Director of BML, Mohamed Shareef, former Tourism Minister, Moosa Zameer and the former State Minister at the Ministry of Economic Development, Mohamed Luvaiz.

Criminal Court Top Judge, Ahmed Hailam announced a recess after noting that the next witness was still not present at the court even after having taken the testimonies of three of the other witnesses.

The next witness to be presented is also by the state and is Mohamed Waseem.

Waseem is a friend of Moosa Zameer who handled the financial transaction of depositing the USD 1 million to President Yameen's account.

During the hearing Zameer had confessed that he had deposited a million dollars to the account of Yameen and that the money was obtained after the sale of a personal belonging. He also added that the transaction was conducted with Waseem.

Deputy CEO and Operations Director of BML, Mohamed Shareef and the former State Minister at the Ministry of Economic Development, Mohamed Luvaiz was also questioned about the transaction.
