Former President Mohamed Nasheed has alleged that Police had obtained a court order under false pretenses to put murdered Minivan News journalist, Ahmed Rilwan under surveillance.

Nasheed who currently serves as the Speaker of Parliament alleged that Police had also tapped Rilwan's phone in an attempt to listen on his phone conversations.

Nasheed made the allegations in a tweet sent out on Saturday. In his tweet, he also expressed his concern over the fact that few were engaged in a narrative that threatened the trust people have in the institution of Police.

In a press conference held last Thursday, Nasheed also revealed that five police officers involved in the abduction of Rilwan were still in office and alleged that the negligence of Police was noticeable in the case.

Attorney General Ibrahim Riffath has also requested the Police to seek a court order to arrest two officers involved in the case.
