Green Path, the company to whom the chemical warehouse that caught fire last Friday has stated that the reason as to why the fire broke out is unclear and added that the warehouse was inspected by the MNDF from time to time.

Authorities have revealed that the devastating fire seems to have originated from the chemical warehouse which was located in H. Thilafushi. Many had expressed their concerns over the fact that the company had chosen to remain silent over the matter for such a long time.

Chemicals used for swimming pools, detergents, floor cleaners and water plants were stored in the warehouse. Green Path asserted that the chemicals are imported with the necessary permits from MNDF. They further asserted that there was no reason for a fire to break out in the warehouse, which does not include any electricity either as a safety measure.

They further explained that the last time the warehouse was accessed was on Wednesday, where some goods were unloaded from the warehouse.

Hence they alleged that it was dubious as to whether the fire had originated from the warehouse or not.
