The account opened by National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) in their efforts to help those affected by the fire last Friday has received over MVR 190,000.

NDMA revealed that the BML account had received a total of MVR 191,555.25 by 4:00pm today as donations by well wishers. Those who wish to provide financial assistance can do so by donating to the account 7730000284246 opened under the name September 20 Male Fire Relief Account.

The Maldivian government has also decided to assess the damages and compensate those who were affected from the devastating fire.

While the root cause of the fire remains unclear, Police is actively investigating the situation. They have been active at the site of the fire since the night of Friday.
