The names of the former President of the Elections Commission (EC) Fuad Thuafeeq and current Vice President, Amjad Mustafa, along with two other names, have been sent to parliament for review to be appointed to the Elections Commission.

A letter from the President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih to the Speaker of the Parliament requesting one of the people to be appointed to the Elections Commission was read out at the parliament session today. And the names were sent to the parliament committee on independent institutes for further review.

The four people nominated to the EC are, Fuad Thaufeeq (Male’ City), Amjad Mustafa (G.A. Maamendhoo), Hassan Nazim (Male’ City) and Haneefa Khalid (H.A. Kelaa).

The term of the current Vice President of the Elections Commission, Amjad Mustafa, will expire on 24 November. At the opportunity to nominate names for the EC opened by the President’s Office, a total of ten names were sent in.
