Minister of Finance and Treasury, Ibrahim Ameer, has said that MVR 600 million has been included in the state budget for a social housing project towards affordable living as per the government pledge.

Proposing the annual budget for 2020 at the parliament today, Minister Ameer said that under President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih’s pledge to provide housing units for 20,000 families during his presidency, 10,000 housing units are set to be developed next year.

And so, MVR 600 million has been included in the state budget as equity for the project.

President Solih has previously said that housing units will be developed and provided for 20,000 families by 2023.

Today, Minister Ameer said that low interest loans are set to be provided next hear for home construction.
