Education Ministry has revealed that the new state-run school being developed in the old Male' English School (MES) building will cater to the grades 1-6.

The MES building is currently being used to run some faculties of the Maldives National University (MNU). However, MVR 20.2 million has been budgeted to further renovate the building and to facilitate equipment and teachers.

Education Ministry revealed that the school, which has now been named 'Izzudheen School' will cater to grades 1 till 10 in one session. However, when the academic year 2020 begins grades 1 till 6 will initially be catered to. These includes three classes in each grade from grades 1 till 4 and two classes in each grade for grades 5 and 6. Each class holds a maximum of 25 students.

Grades 7 till 10 will begin starting 2021, with each year adding up a new grade to the school.

The Ministry further noted that the same regulations as any other school in Male' City will be used when going through applications.

Hence those who wish to apply for grades 2 till 6 are to submit a letter requesting application. The order of letters will be noted when prioritizing applications.
