The special recognition award presented by the President to those who achieve high levels in their respective fields have been presented to 39 people.

At the Republic Day function held last night at Dharubaaruge, the medals and shields were presented by the President, Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.

The award is presented to successful accomplishment in achieving a certificate in the national standard along with 32 individuals who ranked the highest in education and training courses along with six people who won the top rank in international standards.

Winners of the award also included two sports teams; the champion team of the South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) tournament last year and the Table Tennis team that won gold in the Indian Ocean Islands Games (IOIG) earlier this year.

The President also presented awards to seven people for top ranks in international exhibitions and competitions along with16 people for memorizing the holy Quran. A total of 11 students received medals for achieving global ranking in various subjects in the international examinations. Six students won the gold medal for placing first on the international level.

Aside from those winners, 13 scouts also received awards with two receiving the commemorative shield, five receiving the President Scout Badge and six receiving the Baden Powell Badge.
