Leader of the Jumhooree Party (JP), the MP for Maamigili constituency, Qasim Ibrahim has said that no matter how excited a group of people are to spread a religion other than Islam in the country by taking money from temples, the article that says the religion of the Maldivian state is Islam cannot be changed.
Speaking at a function at the main JP hall at Maafannu Kunooz last night, Qasim said that weakening the Islamic faith in a country that is a 100 percent Muslim is going to jeopardize the peace and national interests.
The JP Leader said that while the Maldives has been a Muslim country for over 900 years, taking it back to the old religions of idolatry and Christianity is not something that cannot be done. He said that the act on the Maldivian Constitution that says that religion of the state is Islam cannot be changed.
He also called on people with Islamic education that try to hide the word of God and his Prophet (S.A.W) to stop their efforts to mislead.
Qasim said that Maldivians are a patient people and history has shown that Maldivians will be patient until a certain time. He said that the JP stands with religious scholars and their just work.
