Hassan Latheef: Government will not spend for MDP campaign trips, is being paid by MDP

Chairperson of MDP and MP for West Henveiru constituency, Hassan Latheef, has said that the government will not be paying for the campaign visits in the party primaries but it will be paid by the party.

MP Latheef made the remarks after oppositions have accused the MDP of using government funds to on their ongoing campaign trips. Oppositions have said that that MDP needs to be investigated for abuse of government authorities.

Hassan Latheef said that MDP operates with donations from party members and others who wishes the party well.

Governing party, MDP has launched its wide campaign for the upcoming local council election. The party has said over 1400 candidates are taking part in the primary.
