President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has said that his administration is going to send 56 bills to the parliament in its first session this year.
Speaking at his annual address under Article 84 at the opening of the parliament, President Solih said that the bills being sent to the first session of the year include 32 amends to active laws and 24 new bills.
The President said that he has full confidence that the parliament will support the government on these bills.
President Solih said that the first year of government and the 19th parliament has displayed a fine example of the three powers of state operating independently while supporting each other.
Following the President’s address today, the Speaker of the Parliament, Mohamed Nasheed thanked the President for recognizing the work of the parliament last year and assured continued support to the government from the parliament.
