Amid the COVID-19 Corona Virus global pandemic, the Maldivian government has imposed a travel ban for visitors coming to the Maldives from the United Kingdom and Malaysia.

Speaking during a press conference, Covid-19 Spokesperson Mabrouq Azeez noted that the travel ban from Malaysia will be effective from 1800 hours today while the ban on UK will be active starting 0000 hours on Thursday, March 19.

During the period, no passengers travelling to the Maldives from these countries directly or transiting will be allowed entry.

Any Maldivians returning from these countries will be quarantined for 14 days.
