The Maldivian authorities have decided to close down all guesthouses and city hotels in the the country amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

This announcement was made by the Tourism Minister, Ali Waheed.

While the government has decided to close down all guesthouses and city hotels across the nation, they had previously decided to close down all such places in the Greater Male' Region as well.

In addition to this, the government had ordered to close down all tuition centers, schools and any other educational institution. While the government has been taking drastic measures to control the virus, no one has tested positive for it within the last 24 hours.

However a number of people are currently in isolation for having suspected symptoms.

All government offices are also being closed down from March 19 till March 26.
