Government Spokesperson for the COVID-19 situation in the Maldives, Mohamed Mabrook Abdul Aziz has said that a foreign footballer who departed from the Maldives have tested positive for COVID-19 Corona Virus and so the authorities are doing a contact tracing to find people who were in close contact.
The footballer who tested positive for COVID-19 is the Belgian footballer, Marouane Fellaini, who stayed at Reethi Rah resort on holiday.
The former mid-fielder for Manchester United now plays in the Chinese Super League. He tested positive after he returned to China.
Talking to the press, Mabrook said that the footballer was in the Maldives from 8-12 March and based on the 14-day period is believed to have become positive for COVID-19 on 6 March.
And so, it is likely that he was infected in China, according to Spokesperson Mabrook.
