The national airline, Maldivian, has decided to begin cargo flights to Sri Lanka, India, Thailand and Dubai.
The airline made the announcement on Twitter stating that the flights will go to Chennai and Trivandrum in India and requested to contact 797-7926 for further inquiries.
Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the airports have been officially closed for foreigners and the borders have been closed. However, the President, Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has said that they would be making arrangements for non-stop supply of import foods such as fruits and vegetables.
The national airline has arranged cargo flights at a time of international lock down due to the spreading pandemic and the country needs an adequate solution to import some important things.
