Male' City Mayor, Shifa Mohamed, has said that officers of the Maldives Police Service will be issuing permits tonight to all the corner stores that wishes to deliver goods to their customers.

Speaking during a press conference at the National Emergency Operation Center, Shifa noted that delivery services faced many issues due to the lockdown. As such some issues noted include being unable to travel to open shops as well as pending passes for certain shops.

She added that to solve this, all those who apply for the pass will receive one from Police Tow Yard tonight.

However the passes will only be available to those who registered with the City Council to deliver during a time of lockdown, including any new registrations.

Male' region was brought to a lockdown restricting all movements after the first confirmed case of Covid-19 emerged yesterday. The lockdown that began at 14:30hours yesterday has now been extended for another 24 hours today.
