Assistant Commissioner of Police, Abdulla Fairoosh has said as part of the effort to prevent further spread of COVID-19, police are monitoring 21 expatriate households.

He said that there are over 1000 expatriates are living in those households. Police have previously said that 18 households where over 800 expatriates were living in are being monitored.

While different places are being monitored to prevent the spread of COVID-19, a special attention is being given to expat household since a large number of expats live in small housing with many people.

Yesterday, the Tourism Minister, Ali Waheed said that expatriate accomodations facilities are being developed in Gulhifalhu, Vilivaru and Hulhumale’.
