Ministry of Education has revealed that the World Health Organisation (WHO) will assist in re-opening of schools in the Maldives, which have been closed since March due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.

The Ministry revealed that they had conducted a virtual meeting with the WHO Representative to the Maldives, Dr. Arvind Mathur, and added that he had "graciously agreed to further support the preparations for school reopening".

According to the Education Ministry, the WHO will assist through the provision of indispensable supplies, training of staff, and others in preparedness and sanitization procedures.

The Ministry had recently highlighted that they are preparing for the re-opening of schools and that a safety check will be conducted beforehand. Temperature checks will be imposed at all schools before letting students enter the school premises.

In addition to this they noted that the disinfection of common areas will take place and that the necessary personnel is now being trained for it.
