Over 500 expatriate workers who were stuck in the Maldives due to the COVID-19 pandemic has been transferred back to their home countries.
Immigration revealed that this included 200 Bangladeshis, 156 Indians, and 149 Nepali. With this, the number of Bangladeshi nationals who have been transferred back now stands at 3,129. The number of Indians who were transferred back is at 3,710.
Immigration statistics reveal that 10,879 people had departed to Asian countries while 2,091 Europeans and 41 Africans had departed by last Friday.
