A ninth person has passed away in the Maldives due to complications with COVID-19.

Health Protection Agency (HPA) said that the man, a Philippine national, was being treated at the 11th floor of Dharumavantha Hospital.

The 43-year-old man passed away today at 1:50 p.m. according to the HPA. This is the second COVID-19 related death in the Maldives this month. The first death was that of a Bangladeshi national.

Spokesperson of the National Emergency Operation Center (NEOC), Mohamed Mabrook Abdul Aziz told One Online that the person who passed away today was one of the two people on the ventilator. He tested positive on 15 June.

There were four previous COVID-19 related death in the country. They are four Bangladeshi nationals and four locals. With this recent death.
