Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has sent the dismissal case of the Chief Magistrate of the Haa Dhaalu Judicial jurisdiction, Mohamed Mausoom, to the Judiciary Committee of the Parliament following allegations of sexual harassment and accepting bribes.
Chief Magistrate Mausoom is currently under suspension following the allegations.
JSD said that their investigation has shown that Magistrate Mausoom was involved with bribery in connection to a case at Haa Dhaalu Hirimaradhoo and large sums of money going into his account aside from the salary and benefits are acquired outside the law.
The investigation also showed that he uses inappropriate language at the workplace that have tones of sexual harassment according to the JSC and that is something that violates the Judges’ Act and the regulation on discipline of judges.
Hence a decision was made yesterday at the 51st meeting of the JSC to forward the case for the dismissal of the Chief Magistrate, Mohamed Mausoom.
