Dheebanaz Fahmy and Mohamed Misbah has been appointed as judges to the Criminal Court today.
Their oath was administered by Supreme Court Justice Husnu Al Suood, while the President of JSC and MP Hisaan Hussain presented them with the letter of appointment.
The JSC noted that these applicants were vetted by the advisory committee and listed both Dheebanaz and Misbah as highly recommended.
Dheebanaz is also the first female judge to be appointed to the Criminal Court. She holds a Bachelor of Laws (Honors) from the Islamic University of Malaysia and a Master of Law from the University of Canterbury, New Zealand. She has 17 years of experience in criminal law, including working as Deputy Attorney General.
Misbah has a Bachelor of Sharia and Law from Al-Azhar University in Egypt. He has six years of experience as a public prosecutor and in private practice. He also has experience in teaching law.
With the appointment of the two new judges, the Criminal Court now has 11 judges.
