Public Service Media (PSM) facing 14 out of 15 charges against them claiming violation of procurement guidelines have been submitted to the Anti Corruption Commission (ACC).
Current Managing Director of PSM Ali Khalid spoke on 'Fas Manzaru" program on VTV and said that there are several cases of corruption at PSM. He said that the the cases include violation of procurement guidelines as well as giving free airtime to the former ruling party, the Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM).
Khalid further reiterated that there is severe debt at the company worth '200 million' and that there are 15 cases of violating procurement guidelines and that 14 of them have been submitted to the ACC for investigation.
The Managing Director highlighted that the current financial status of the company is at an all time low and that the staff at PSM are unmotivated due to negligence. He further said that he will work towards improving the condition of staff as an initial directive.
Khalid had previously noted that airtime at PSM had been increasingly biased towards certain parties and addressed the media. He said that the airtime given freely to PPM cost approximately MVR 3.1 Million. Khalid noted that campaign events of former President Yameen had been broadcast, under the pretense that these are events attended by the President. He noted that the campaign events are not official Presidential events.
