A stepfather has been arrested for sexually assaulting his 13-year-old daughter.

Confirming the arrest to One Online, Media Official of the Maldives Police Service said that the sexual abuse of a 13-year-old girl by a person in a trusted position was reported to the Central Police Division on 23 October 2020.

A 49-year-old man was arrested last night with a court order and an investigation is underway according to the police.

One Online has learned from sources that the suspected arrested in the case is the stepfather of the victim.
