The President's Office has revealed that government offices will be closed on Wednesday and Thursday as part of the Republic Day holidays.

Six additional days to the already existing government holidays were announced last December by the president. The President's Office previously said that the additional holidays were given so that extensive planning for the breaks could be possible for all.

As such November 11 (Wednesday) is a government holiday as it is Republic Day, and November 12 (Thursday) is now a holiday as part of the Republic Day holiday.

This prompts a long weekend for government workers.
