MVR 390 million has been recorded as income through the state taxation agency, Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA).

Monthly statistics from MIRA for the month of October show an income of MVR 390.57 million – a 57.9 percent drop compared to the October of 2019.

Last month saw MVR 332.9 million come in to the state as tax and MVR 57.6 million as other means along with 4.68 million in USD.

MIRA said that the state income dropped last month due to COVID-19 as the tourism activities dropped along with the number of tourists visiting the Maldives. And so, the income from GST and Green Tax from the Tourism Sector had dropped significantly.

Statistics from MIRA show MVR 9.9 million in fines in this past month of June along with MVR 52 million as income tax and MVR 2.5 million as business registration fees.
