The first female Attorney General, Dhiyana Saeed has said that there is no political leader that was not involved in the major corruption scandal of the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC).

Dhiyana made the remark in a Tweet saying that the former Vice President, who was heavily involved in the MMPRC corruption scandal, Ahmed Adeeb Abdul Gafoor, is now under home arrest because of how much of the “black money” distributed by the former Vice President has smeared hands and mouths.

She also accused Adeeb of bribing judges.

At the parliament sitting yesterday, the MP for Kaashidhoo constituency, Abdulla Jabir said that Dhiyana, who is also his wife, has been appointed as an attorney of the former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom, who is currently in prison serving time for money laundering.

Prosecutor General has recently brought up more charges of money laundering and bribes against the former President.

A hearing was scheduled last Thursday following the new charges which saw the judge give the former President time for his legal team to review the charges.
