In the year so far, 99,000 tourists have visited the Maldives.
Statistics released by the Tourism Ministry show a total of 99,379 tourists have visited the Maldives from 1 January to 3 February 2021.
The statistics show that 92,103 tourists have visited the country in January while 7,294 tourists have visited this month so far. Last month also saw a daily average of 2,971 tourists and the daily average this month has been 2,431 tourists. Ministry statistics also show a drop in the average duration spent in the country by a day from January’s 9 days to 8 in February.
A total of 2,365 tourists have visited the Maldives from Russia making It the top market this year so far followed by India with 20,933 followed by Ukraine.
Currently there are 43,638 tourist beds in operation across the country with 33,372 beds at 145 resorts, 7,656 beds a 343 hotels and guesthouses and 6,198 beds in 135 safari yachts.
Since the Maldives reopened its borders on 15 July 2020, 193,000 tourists visited the country that totaled up to 550,000 tourists in the year 2020.
