Health Protection Agency (HPA) has ruled that the person who passed away last night and taken to Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) was a COVID-related death.

One Online has learned that a 66-year-old local man was taken to IGMH last night but HPA did not make the decision on th COVID death last night.

HPA today said that an unconscious man was taken to IGMH last night around 8:25 p.m. was declared dead 20 minutes later.

With this most recent death declared as related to COVID-19, a total of 59 locals and seven foreigners has been reported as COVID-19 deaths in the country.

The Maldives reported its first COVID-19 death on 29 April 2020.
