The curfew in Male' City area from 11 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. has been lifted as part of lifting some of the restrictions in place due to COVID-19.

A statement issued today with the signature of the Director General of Public Health, Maimoona Abubakur said that right restrictions are being lifted. They are:

  • Opening Cinemas and Film Theatres under HPA guidelines
  • Opening up food services under HPA guidelines and regulations from the relevant authorities
  • Opening running tracks
  • Opening Universities and Colleges for in-person classes with safety measures
  • Opening gyms under HPA guidelines
  • Opening Day Care centers under HPA guidelines
  • Opening Kindergarten and Pre-school centers under HPA guidelines
  • Ending the curfew in the Male' City area from 11 p.m. to 4:30 a.m.

The statement said that despite the restrictions being lifted, the Director General of Public Health has the authority to make decisions on special circumstances. And the implementation of the regulations will be carried out by the Maldives Police Service and other relevant authorities.

Although the restrictions in the capital has seen an ease, the number of cases in the area has not gone down.
