Maldives Transport Authority has said that music players or radios can now only be used in taxis with the permission of from the passengers.

Drivers playing songs and listening to radio during fares have become common place while some have raised concerns about it. The new amendment to the taxi laws made yesterday would ban the use of radio and other music devices without the permission from passengers.

The regulation published on the State Gazette had a nother amendment as well that says that communication devices approved by the Transport Authority has to be installed in taxis to communicate between taxis and taxi centers. And they must be used with respect and etiquette, according to the Transport Authority.
