A total of 13 inmates at Male' Jail had t tested positive for COVID-19.

Maldives Correctional Service set out a tweet saying that 13 samples from a number of samples taken from Annex-1 at the Male' Jail had come back positive and they were all samples from inmates.

And so, Annex-1 has now been placed under lockdown according to the Correctional Service and the regulations under COVID-19 is being implemented.

While COVID cases have been reported from the Male' Jail, lost Thursday saw cases from the Asseyri Jail in Kaafu Hinmafushi and the Maafushi Prison. Two prison officers tested positive from the two facilities.

On the same day, 14 people in Police custody in Doonidhoo had tested positive as well.
