Security increased following report of a threat to Parliament

Security at the Parliament builthad been increased following a report of a potential threat to the building.

MNDF Media Officer, Major Ibrahim Azim told the press today that a report of a possible threat to the Parliament building came is last night. And so, security has been increased at the Parliament building and the area around it.

Earlier this month, an IED was detonated in an attack to the Speaker of Parliament, former President Mohamed Nasheed as he was entering the car. He has been transferred to Germany for further treatment.

Following the bombing, armed officers of the MNDF has taken over the security of the major buildings across the country.
