Minister of Home Affairs, Sheikh Imran Abdulla, has said that under no circumstance would he be a barrier for the medical treatment of former VP Adeeb, or any other convict. While the Minister has said this, there is currently a pending case regarding former Vice President Ahmed Adeeb Abdul Ghafoor at court.

Sheikh Imran has said this in response to a tweet posted by Adeeb’s wife Mariyam Nashwa.

The tweet by Nashwa urged Sheikh Imran to allow proper medical tests that needs to be carried out for Adeeb’s treatment. Nashwa said that this is significant as today is World Cancer day and noted that Adeeb’s brother had also died of the disease. The tweet noted that while this is the case, cysts have also been found on the same location on Adeeb as his brother.

Sheikh Imran said in response that he will, under no circumstance would be a barrier for the medical treatment of former VP Adeeb, or any other convict. The Minister had also said that he will do everything under his authority to ensure proper treatment for former VP Adeeb.

Adeeb had been transferred to the hospital for treatment as recently as last month. In addition to that, while the High Court had ruled Adeeb’s transfer under house arrest due to medical condition, Supreme Court had ordered Adeeb to be transferred back to prison pending a ruling by the court.
