President Solih’s visit to Sri Lanka was as the guest of honor of the country’s 71st Independence day celebrations, on the invitation of current President, Maithripala Sirisena. The President and First Lady Fazna Ahmed departed on the official visit this past Sunday.

President Solih had met with Maldivian nationals residing in Sri lanka. In addition to that the President and First lady Fazna Ahmed also met with Sri lankan President Maithripala Sirisena and First lady. Talks were held by the two Presidents during the visit on strengthening the age old ties between both nations.

President Solih had also met with the former Sri lankan President and current opposition leader Mahinda Rajapaksa.
