An Indian Wing Commander who had been captured by the Pakistani military has been returned to India’s custody.
While many have died in the attacks in the India-Pakistan Kashmir conflict, an Indian Wing Commander on a jet plane had been captured by the Pakistani forces.
Tensions had heated up following this incident and several people had urged the release of the pilot. Pakistan had just yesterday, released Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman to Indian authorities.
India had set up a warm welcome to the Commander and many had gathered to celebrate the return at the only India-Pakistan border where crossing is legal.
Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that the release of this Indian Commander was done as a gesture of peace.
HIs Indian counterpart, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had also conveyed his warm welcome to the Indian pilot via twitter. The tweet recognized the pilot’s bravery and celebrated the Indian armed forces.
While the conflict between India and Pakistan had never fully dissipated, a recent suicide bomb that killed 40 in India had escalated the situation severely.
