Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid is participating in the 46th Organization of Islamic Countries (OIC) Council meetings.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has informed that Minister Shahid received a warm welcome from the Maldivian Ambassador to UAE, Dr. Hussain Niyaz and several officials of the Embassy, during the Council meeting.

The Minister is set to speak at the Council meeting that commenced in Abu Dhabi yesterday. As such, the Ministry has reported that Minister Shahid will be sharing the developments in politics and democracy within Maldives to global attendees at the meeting.

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Humaid, Additional Secretary Javid Faizal as well as the Director of Communications at the Ministry, Miuvaan Mohamed took part in the meeting.

The OIC was established in 1969 at Saudi Arabia to ensure stability and peace within muslim nations and currently encompasses 57 nations. Maldives became an OIC member in the year 1976.
