Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abdulla Shahid, has returned to the country after concluding his visit to the UAE.

Foreign Minister Shahid returned to the Maldives today after attending the 46th session of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) at Abu Dhabi and meeting foreign secretaries of the OIC council.

Speaking at OIC, Minister Shahid spoke on the developments in the Maldives and called for greater Islamic solidarity among the OIC. Focusing on international issues that are important to the Islamic Ummah, Minister Shahid reiterated the support of the Maldives to an independent and sovereign Palestinian State, while also calling for unhindered access for humanitarian aid for the Rohingya people in Myanmar.

Minister Shahid also had bilateral meetings with the Foreign Ministers of the OIC members.
